Requirements to knowledge and practical skills
Requirements for the preparation of the student at the end of the studing of discipline.
The student should know:
- Etiology, classification, pathogenesis, clinical picture, diagnosis and differential diagnosis, methods of prevention and treatment of Tuberculosis;
- Methods of the out-patient rehabilitation treatment;
- dispensary work and rehabilitation of patients with tuberculosis, principles of prevention and medical-social expertise.
-History of phthisiology;
-Epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis and pathomorphosis of tuberculosis;
-Allergy and immunity in tuberculosis;
-Methods of examination of the patients with tuberculosis;
-Classification, diagnosis, clinical picture, treatment and differential diagnosis of pulmonary and some nonpulmonary forms of tuberculosis;
- Clinical manifestations and features of the main urgent complications in tuberculosis and their treatment;
- Characteristics of the course of tuberculosis combined with other diseases;
- HIV-associated tuberculosis;
- Social, specific and sanitary prevention of tuberculosis;
- Organization and early and timely detection of Tuberculosis;
- The organization of antituberculosis vaccination: indications and contraindications, post-vaccination complications;
- The organization of TB control measures in urban and rural areas, depending on the epidemiological situation;
- Structure and organization of the anti-tuberculosis dispensary service;
- Examination of temporary and permanent disability of tuberculosis patients;
- Role of the general practitioner doctor in the system of tuberculosis control;
- The principles of the organization of prophylactic examinations of the population;
- Classification, diagnosis, clinic, treatment of sarcoidosis of the respiratory system;
- Clinic, diagnosis and treatment of the pulmonary mycobacteriosis;
- The principles of the medical ethics at the examination and treatment of the patients with tuberculosis.
The student should be able to:
- to collect complaints, medical and the life history of the patient with tuberculosis;
- To implement clinical examination of the patient with pulmonary tuberculosis and some forms of nonpulmonary one;
- To plan the examination of the patients with tuberculosis, including cases with combined somatic pathology;
- To determine tuberculous abnormalites on the chest X-ray and to write X-ray protocol;
- to appoint additional examinations confirming the diagnosis;
- to evaluate the results of the laboratory and instrumental methods of the examinations;
- to formulate and prove a clinical diagnosis of tuberculosis;
- Differential diagnosis of tuberculosis and nontuberculosis diseases;
- to administrate the chemotherapy according to the clinical categories of the patients;
- to identify adverse reactions to anti-TB drugs, to treat and prevent them;
- to provide emergency assistance in cases of pulmonary hemorrhage, spontaneous pneumothorax;
- To determine the indications for chemoprophylaxis of tuberculosis;
- To make the Mantoux tuberculin skin test and consider its results;
- To determine the indications for lumbar puncture, to evaluate results of the investigations of cerebrospinal fluid;
- to determine the type of the source of TB infection and to make a plan of measures for its improvement.
