Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka has visited Grodno State Medical University

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation Professor Janitha Abeywickrema Liyanage has visited Grodno State Medical University.

During the visit, the ambassador got acquainted with the activities and life of the university, and discussed issues of further cooperation and development of relations with the administration of Grodno State Medical University.

More than 1200 students study at the Medical Faculty for International Students at GrSMU. Half of them are from Sri Lanka.

“One of the main goals of the visit is to meet students from Sri Lanka who are studying at Grodno Medical University,” said Janita Abeyvikrem Liyanage. “Another purpose of the visit is to continue joint activities with the university. After all, Grodno State Medical University is one of the best in the country. We want to continue our cooperation in different directions.”

The ambassador emphasized that there is long-standing cooperation with Grodno Medical University, and international educational programs are at a high level.

In turn, the rector Elena Kratkova noted that the comfort of foreign students is an important part of the entire educational process.

Before meeting the students of the Faculty for International Students, Ambassador Janita A. Liyanage visited a creative exhibition presented in the lobby in front of the assembly hall. Students have prepared many pieces showing the cultural characteristics of the people. The exhibition included unusual jewelry, items of arts and crafts, and, of course, national identity. After the demonstration of the exposition, the students showed their creative performances. Colorful bright dances, songs and hospitality did not leave anyone indifferent. During the concert, a video was shown about the foreign students’ life at Grodno State Medical University, which for several years became a second home for foreign students.

At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, Professor Janita Abeyvikrem Liyanage talked with the students and answered their questions.
