Honours Board Students on their goals, dreams, and accomplishments: Shiny Peiris
I am Shiny Peiris, a fifth-year medical student from Sri Lanka, in the Faculty for International Students at Grodno State Medical University. My ultimate ambition has consistently been in the field of medicine. When asked as a kid what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer always was to become a doctor. It was not due to peer pressure, but solely tied to my interests in the field of medicine. Therefore, I've dedicated myself to hard work since my time in school.
As a medical student, excelling in my role is my prime focus. Working hard and smart consistently, whilst also accepting my weak points and trying to improve myself is what gives me motivation by itself. Even though, there seem to be a lot on my plate, I've always had the force to juggle them sagely. Even if I get overwhelmed, I've grasped the art of breaking down the problems and efficiently dealing with them for positive outcomes; however, if it bends towards the negative side, I'll consider it as a key takeaway and adapt myself to work through it in the future.
I have understood about the fact that resource gathering is of utmost importance: it could be via books, teachers, or even discussions with your friends. I've participated in multiple Olympiads and won places, published blogs and won the first place in the best blogs of summer season, 2024 of "The Horizon" magazine, I am also currently engaging in research work at the Department of Pediatrics.
Apart from the hustle, I've acknowledged the fact that it's necessary to find time to ground myself in order to recharge, without which, it will be tough to keep myself oriented. Thereby, I look forward to working with the same enthusiasm, to further broaden my spheres, and have a meaningful, rather fruitful impact in the field of medicine.
