Successful participation of students of Grodno State Medical University in the International Olympiad in English

From February 03, 2025 to April 11, 2025, 1st year students of GrSMU took part in the Vth International English Language Olympiad among students of medical and pharmaceutical universities “Medical English Challenge” in ONLINE format, organized by the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.
The purpose of the Olympiad was to identify talented young people among students of medical and pharmaceutical universities who are able to demonstrate a high level of English proficiency for medical purposes, skills in solving non-standard creative tasks in the professional field using English, advanced communication skills, teamwork skills and project elaborating skills.
The Olympiad was held in two forms: individual and team contests. Students from 24 medical universities took part in the Olympiad: 20 universities from Russia, 1 university from Kazakhstan, 1 university from Uzbekistan, 2 universities from Belarus (GrSMU, BSMU).
The team contest included 19 teams, among them 2 teams from GrSMU (consisting of 5 and 6 people each). The team from GrSMU (captain – Pavel Satsuta, 1st year student of the Faculty of General Medicine, group No. 6, supervisor – senior lecturer Golovach T.N.) received a special award “International Collaboration" for the video message on the topic «Universities through personalities».
A total of 240 students took part in the individual contest, including 9 students from GrSMU. Alexandra Yakhimchik (1st year student of the Faculty of Pediatrics, group No. 11? supervisor – senior lecturer Semenchuk I.V.) successfully passed the first two qualifying rounds of the Olympiad and received the Creativity award for a motivating video about the significance of the medical subject “Communication in Medicine” in a healthcare profession in the second round.
A. Yakhimchik was among the 15 students selected to participate in the last 3rd round of the International Olympiad. The inter-university team with Alexandra Yakhimchik, took the first place in the project competition “An International Hospital Today" in the final round of the Olympiad.
All participants of the Olympiad gained valuable experience in submitting an inter-university profession-oriented creative language project.
