THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE WEEK 2025!

From March 24 to March 31, 2025, the Department of Foreign Languages held a number of events ​​within the English Language Week. During the Week, the first-year students from the Faculty of General Medicine, the Faculty of Pediatrics, the Faculty of Mental Health Medicine and the Faculty of Medical Diagnostics took part in the following events:

1) quizzes (Medical terminology quiz, Body systems quiz, Jeopardy, Diseases of Liver and Bile Ducts, Neurological disorders quiz);

2) contemporary English song contest;

3) translation competition «Discover the World of Translation»;

4) videos contest

Medical terminology quiz was held among the first-year students of the Faculty of General Medicine and the Faculty of Pediatrics. The purpose of the quiz was to stimulate interest in learning English and medical terminology, to form the terminological apparatus of future specialists. The participants were divided into teams and actively answered questions about modern English medical terminology. The teams competed for the correct answers, earning points. At the end of the event, the results were summed up and the winners were announced.

First-year students of group 6 of the Faculty of General medicine were offered to do the quiz “Neurological disorders. The quiz consisted of 15 questions on the topic and a crossword. The group was divided into 2 teams, which competed for better results. The students demonstrated good knowledge of the topic. At the end of the event, the results were summed up.

Students of group 12 of the Faculty of General Medicine participated in the translation competition "Discover the World of Translation". The students translated a popular science text devoted to environmental protection from English into Russian. The goal of the competition was to improve language skills and increase motivation to study foreign languages.

First-year students of the Faculty of Pediatrics took part in the motivation videos contest "The Faculty of Pediatrics is the best faculty for studying!" The winner of the contest is group 2. The students have managed to present their Faculty creatively and positively. Congratulations to the winners!

Body systems quiz was aimed to generalize and systematize the acquired knowledge, form interdisciplinary connections, and increase motivation for students beginning to learn English (Group 12 of the Faculty of General Medicine). Students demonstrated their erudition in various subject areas: English and Latin, Anatomy.

First-year students of group 26 of the Faculty of General Medicine participated in the quiz "Jeopardy". The quiz was conducted according to the principle of the television game "Your Own Game". The participants were divided into two teams, each team in turn chose the category and price of the question, and after a specified time (15-20 sec), provided an answer. If the answer was incorrect, the opposing team gave an answer to the same question. At the end of the quiz, points were counted and the winning team was announced.

First-year students of group 1 of the Faculty of Pediatrics presented their musical performance for the English song contest.

1st year students of group 6 of the Faculty of Medical Diagnostics took part in the quiz “Diseases of Liver and Bile Ducts". The group was divided into 3 teams: a team of oncologists, a team of gastroenterologists, and a team of patients with liver and biliary tract diseases. Oncologists and gastroenterologists discussed appropriate treatment approaches, suggested their own treatment methods, and patients asked questions about treatment of a particular disease. The students were actively involved in the discussion and  demonstrated good knowledge of the subject. At the end of the quiz, the results were summed up.

Participation in the events within the English Language Week contributed to the development of students’ creative initiative, and allowed them to apply the knowledge acquired during the learning process in practice.
