Winners of the III student educational and methodological conference on biomedical ethics

On December 28, 2023, the III student educational and methodological conference on biomedical ethics for students of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Foreign Students was held at the Department of Public Health and Healthcare.

The conference is organized by the department annually, in order to identify talented students capable of scientific activity, increase the level of their theoretical knowledge, involve young people in scientific work, implement ideological, spiritual, moral, multicultural education, work on adaptation to university teaching for first-year students and involvement in student science domestic and foreign students, the formation of a humane worldview of students.

Traditionally, the conference was attended by students of the Faculty of Medicine (11 speakers) and the Faculty of Foreign Students from different countries (10 speakers, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan, India, Maldives, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana), who were pre-selected at seminar classes. The conference was held in two languages.

In addition to the conference participants and teachers - members of the organizing committee, students from various courses of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Foreign Students were invited as listeners. The audience took part in the discussion: the speakers received questions in both Russian and English.

A special feature of the conference is that the participants do not have scientific supervisors as such. The children independently prepare presentations, the topics of which represent the subject of studying biomedical ethics. The organizing committee evaluated:

     the student’s elaboration of the issue being presented, the content of the report,

     presentation quality,

     manner of presentation of the report,

     ability to comply with the time limit (10 minutes per report),

     answers to questions from the audience.

The decision of the organizing committee based on the results of the III student educational and methodological conference on biomedical ethics for students of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Foreign Students in 2023:

The winners were the following first year students:

Medical Faculty:

1st place – Ulanovich Valeria Borisovna, 1st grade LF, 13th grade.

2nd place – Stureiko Alina Igorevna 1k., LF, 20 gr.

3rd place – Sitko Alesya Dmitrievna 1 k., LF, 1 gr.

Faculty of foreign students:

1st place – Indusara Widzhetunge, 11a gr.;

2nd place – Zara Rizvi, 10a gr.;

3rd place – Mariam Zara, 2a gr.
