Research activities

The research interests of the Department staff are mainly devoted to healthсare in different social and age groups, treatment and prophylaxis, adolescent reproductive health , adolescent life quality, reproductive and  health-safeguarding behavior, History of Medicine of  Belarus in ХIХ-ХХ centuries.  Sociology of Medicine: the subject, methodology and use in the Republic of Belarus. 

4 Doctor’s, 7 Candidate’s and 9 Master’s theses have been defended and a great number of research papers and monographs have been published by the academic staff of the Department. 

More than 25 scientific Conferences on Public Health History of Medicine, Nursing, medical education issues were organized and carried out at the Department. More than 20 manuals were published. 

Many students’ scientific works were awarded diplomas and title of laureate of the Republican Review-Competition.   

The President of Republic of Belarus Alexander G. Lukashenko awarded with Diploma of  Doctor of Science to Surmach M.Yu. on the eve of the Belarusian Science Day in 2016.

Participating in Professional Communities

Academic staff of the department were elected to the   All-Union and Belarusian society of the  History  of Medicine and Pharmacy, Belarusian Public Associations of Healthcare, Belarusian Grodno Public Associations of Nurses and Belarusian Grodno Societies of the Red Cross, Grodno Society of Monument protection.

International cooperation was carried out with the National  Research Institute of Public Health Service (Moscow), Medical Faculty of Medical University Vilnius (Lithuania), Bialystok, Lublin, Wroclaw, Poznan Health Academy (Poland),

Warsaw University, Russian Societies of Sociologists, Medicine Historians.
