The student should know:
- organization of specialized medical care for patients with cancer in out-patient and in-patient settings;
- methods used for diagnosing cancer;
- therapy methods in Oncology;
- particular sections of Oncology;
The student should be able to:
- collect a general somatic and oncological history, carry out a general examination and evaluate the patient's condition;
- interpret the results of clinical and biochemical laboratory tests, including tumor markers;
- determine the presence of free fluid in the cavities and identify distant metastases using physical examination methods;
- recognize the presence of neoplasms of visual localizations;
- identify risk groups during routine examinations;
- determine the clinical group and in accordance with it therapeutic tactics;
- provide emergency medical care to a patient with oncological disease in emergency conditions;
The students have to acquire skills in
- physical examination of the patient;
- technique of conducting a parallel examination in case of suspected malignant neoplasm;
- technique of palpation of peripheral lymph nodes, mammary glands, the technique of palpation of the thyroid gland;
- technique for performing a puncture biopsy,cell-smear;
- sputum collection technique for examination on atypical cells;
- rules for performing a blood culture test.
