Research activities
The Staff of the Department conduct experimental studies on the pathogenesis of ischemic and reperfusion injuries of the brain, liver, and the search for means of correcting this pathology. The topic “Development of brain damage, liver and abdominal cavity in conditions of endothelial dysfunction and its correction with L-arginine and ω-3 fatty acids preparation” is planned for 2017–2022 (scientific advisor - Prof. N.Ye. Maksimovich, principle investigator - E.I. Bon E.I.). 17 theses have been defended by the teachers of the department (2 – master's, 12 – candidate and 3 – doctoral theses).
Over the past 5 years, the teachers of the Department have published 370 scientific papers, including 125 abstracts, 150 articles in collections and 92 – in journals. The Staff of the Department have published 20 monographs, including 6 abroad, received 11 patents for invention and 3 copyright certificates, certificates for more than 100 rationalization proposals. The scientific results of the Staff have been presented and discussed at numerous scientific conferences.
The teaching staff have received grants from the Fundamental Investigation Fond of Belarus (managers - N. Maksimovich, M. Khodosovsky), as well as the UNESCO Foundation (headed by N. Maksimovich) and grants from the Queen Yadviga Foundation (managers – N. Maksimovich, M. Khodosovsky) to carry out scientific work. Currently, a scientific grant of the Foundation for Basic Research for Young Scientists of Belarus is being held on the topic: “New morphofunctional diagnostic markers of neurons of phylogenetically different parts of the cortex of the rat brain in experimental ischemia” Senior Lecturer E.I. Bon).
The results of scientific research are being introduced into the educational and scientific process. The Department is actively functioning student scientific circle. For the period 2010 to 2018 students published 360 scientific papers, prepared 95 reports at student scientific conferences of regional and international level (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Belastok, Poznan, Gdansk, etc.); over the past 5 years about 10 students have become winners of the Republican contest of scientific works.
