For you, a first-year student
On December 11, 2024, a festive matriculation ceremony “Alma Mater” for the first-year students of the Faculty for International Students of Grodno State Medical University took place at the Molodezhniy Center Grodno. The festive ceremony started with the Anthem of the Republic of Belarus, which the first-year students have heard for the first time.
A challenging but exciting time has come in each of the first-year student's lives. They became the students of the most outstanding university. During the ceremony, first-year students heard many important and good wishes on a difficult but interesting journey of studying at the university. The matriculation ceremony was attended by the members of the university administration, namely, the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Extrabudgetary Activities Varabyeu Vitali Uladzimiravich, the Dean of the Faculty for International Students Stenko Alexander Alexandrovich, the Vice-Deans of the Faculty Lyudmila Nikolaevna Gushchina, Nadezhda Alekseevna Mishonkova and Zoya Petrovna Lemeshevskaya.
The tutors of the first-year study groups, as well as the Leaders of the Students Unions came to congratulate first-year students: Jayakodi Waththage Sithija Dilshan – Sri Lanka Students Union’s Leader, Jabar Mohmad Arsh Sujauddin – Leader of the Indian Students Union, Dheema Mohamed – Leader of the Maldivian Students Union, Ishangulyyev Jeyhun – Leader of the International Students Union, Okoro Precious Ogheneosu – Leader of the African Students Union.
Our university has got a very special tradition – a symbolic knowledge key awarding ceremony for first-year students. After all, knowledge gives a person an opportunity to achieve success and make their dreams come true.
The symbolic KNOWLEDGE key was delivered by an excellent five-year student of the Faculty Samaraweera Umaya. As a part of the tradition, first-year students made a solemn promise of a student of the Grodno State Medical University in both Russian and English.
The first-year students were wished to study well and gain decent knowledge, to take part in scientific conferences, competitions, do sports, to be a participant in concerts and Student Festivals of National Cultures, in charity events under the guidance of senior fellow-students.
During the ceremony, the International Anthem of Students and the University’s Anthem were played.
At the Molodezhniy Center, our students made a solemn promise to study well, respect lecturers and students, not to violate the laws of the Republic of Belarus, to observe the University Ethic Code, to keep the traditions of the Faculty and University and
contribute to their development, to render always medical aid to sick people; they also made new friends.
First-year students prepared a small concert program in which they showed their talents. The concert program was opened by sixth-year Nigerian students with the song “Alesia” in Russian, which became their favorite.
The representatives of the first-year Students Unions appeared in front of the audience in bright national costumes. They sang songs and performed dances of their countries. And then first-year students' celebration ended with an international disco, which was opened by a vocal and instrumental group of Nigerian students.
This event will remain in the memory for many years, and maybe even for a lifetime!
