The participants of the Penal discussion were more than 50 people, namely English-speaking 1st and 2nd-year students of the Medical Faculty for International Students (32) and 1st-year students of the General Medicine Faculty (26). This discussion was organized by Vice-Dean of the Medical Faculty for International Students, Assoc. Prof. of the Department of Foreign Languages L.N. Kostienevich, V. K. Zavadskaya, T.L. Stsiapura and T. V. Golovach.

The purpose of this Penal discussion was to draw attention to healthy lifestyle and, of course, to help first-year students of the Medical Faculty for International Students to adapt more to the student society of the University, to get closer to Belarusian students and communicate with them, that they’re eager and happy to do.

And for the Belarusian students the aim was to practice communication in English within the Foreign Language Curriculum that is primarily communicative and, of course, to get acquainted with foreign students realizing that the students of the Medical Faculty for International Students are not only guests of our country, but also are an irreplaceable part of the Student Community of the University that adds color to its image and makes a significant contribution to its development.

The announcers of the Penal discussion were first-year students of the General Medicine Faculty. Belarusian students along with the students from Sri Lanka, India and Nigeria prepared 13 presentations on different areas of healthy lifestyle in different countries. Each presentation provoked questions and debates. The discussion lasted for more than 2 hours and the students didn’t want to leave. Finally, the results of the questionnaire on healthy lifestyle conducted by the students of General Medicine Faculty within the studies of the topic “Healthy Lifestyle” at the Department of Foreign Languages were presented.

It was suggested to organize Penal discussions for Belarusian and foreign students in English next academic year on the following topics: Secondary and Higher Medical Education System, Healthcare System in Belarus and other countries.

The students enjoyed getting to know each other, exchanged phone numbers and took photos.
