Nowruz
On March 20–21, the peoples of Central Asia, Iranian and Turkic peoples begin to celebrate the holiday of the New Year according to the astronomical solar calendar called Navruz. Navruz is a national tradition that is not directly related to Islamic customs.
The holiday is celebrated in the spring. It symbolizes the renewal of the human and nature. Navruz is translated from Farsi as "new day".
Navruz Bayram is one of the oldest holidays that existed in the history of mankind. In Persia (modern Iran), as well as in Central Asia, it began to be celebrated a very long time ago, even before the seventh century BC. Due to the deep historical roots of the holiday, its exact origin is unknown.
For this holiday, our students prepared an exhibition where they presented the national men's and women's clothing of the peoples of Central Asia, hats, drawings, national household items, accessories and even a musical instrument. Teachers and students of the University visited the exhibition, tried on telpek (Turkmen national men's hat), took pictures.
