Basketball Tournament

On October 17 and 18, 2026, the “Grodno Basketball Championship – 2026”, organized by the Sri Lankan National Union, took place in the GrSMU sports hall. Seven teams competed for the title: “MINT MAVERICKS”, “GRODNO STATE WARRIORS”, “GREEN MAMBAS”, “GHOST BALLERS”, “INFERNO DRAGONS”, “ROYAL REBELS” and “BLACK MAMBAS”. The “MINT MAVERICKS” (boys’ team) and “GREEN MAMBAS” (girls’ team) emerged as the champions, while Mohamed Barakathullah Ahmadh Ahnaaff and Soris Aleta Needra were recognized as the Tournament’s best players.

A highlight of the event was the festive awards ceremony, which honored not only the winners, but also senior students – a gesture of appreciation for those who have contributed to the development of student sports. Besides identifying the best teams, the Tournament strengthened bonds of friendship among the participants, provided an exciting experience for the fans and set a high standard for future championships.

This sporting event serves as a brilliant example of how student initiative can transform into a true celebration of basketball.
