The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has maintained a Student Scientific Society since its establishment. Students conduct research on current issues in obstetrics and gynecology. The Society holds regular thematic meetings.

Through Telegram (https://t.me/sno_Obstetrics_Gynecology), students can access current information and all presentations delivered at Society meetings and vote interactively for the best presentation on each meeting topic.

Every year, research projects by students of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology are presented at university and international conferences and at the national student research competition. Research findings are published as scientific articles and conference abstracts.

An annual university-level competition in obstetrics and gynecology is held for Society members.

The staff of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology are always pleased to support motivated, hardworking students with an interest in science as they take their first steps towards major research achievements.

Each year, students of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology participate in university and international scientific conferences and in the national student research competition, and publish research articles and abstracts. At the 2021 national student research competition, two Society projects received awards. Yulia Serebrennikova and Viktoriya Zdrok received a first-category diploma for “Hereditary Cancer Predisposition Due to BRCA1 Gene Mutations: A Proactive Approach” (supervisor: Associate Professor E. L. Savonevich). Viktoriya Danilyuk received a third-category diploma for “Patterns and Prevalence of Female Infertility” (supervisor: Associate Professor T. S. Milosh).

A university-level obstetrics and gynecology competition is held annually for Society members. In 2019, the Department’s team placed second overall in the national Obstetrics and Gynecology Olympiad at Gomel State Medical University. In 2022, Society students participated in the Sixth L. S. Persianinov All-Russian Student Olympiad in Obstetrics and Gynecology with international participation. Our university team placed third in the Clinical Cases in Gynecology competition.

Key Indicators of Student Research Activities

During the 2022/2023 academic year, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology regularly held thematic meetings of its Student Scientific Society. On VKontakte (https://vk.com/sno_ginecologia_grgmu) and Telegram (https://t.me/sno_Obstetrics_Gynecology), students could access current information, meeting presentations, and voting results for the best speaker on each meeting topic. The Society coordinator and deputy coordinator were elected by open ballot at the first meeting.

Four research projects from the Department’s Society were submitted to the 2022 national student research competition; two received first-category awards and one received a third-category award.

On 26 February 2023, 13 members of the Department’s Student Scientific Society participated in the Seventh L. S. Persianinov All-Russian Student Olympiad in Obstetrics and Gynecology with international participation at Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University (Moscow, Russia), competing alongside teams from 43 medical universities. The Grodno State Medical University team ranked 12th overall after the first online round. The second, in-person round was cancelled for technical reasons.
